Grégory Doucet, Mayor of Lyon, and Sylvain Godinot, Deputy Delegate for Heritage and Ecological Transition, presented, Monday, June 11, the work that will take place during the summer.
240 works operations in Lyon during the summer
In the Pierre-Audry gymnasium – site benefiting from the largest rehabilitation operation – located in the 9th arrondissement, the two elected officials presented in turn the 240 work operations that will take place in July and August.
We are still in this objective of carbon neutrality by 2030″
“These are mainly equipment whose condition we discovered during our time at the controls”, underlined Grégory Doucet. Like the Chalet du Parc or the Tour du Circ, the town hall wishes to deal with the heritage debt it inherited.
In addition to the rehabilitation of heritage, elected officials want to rebuild in favor of ecological transition. “We are still in this objective of carbon neutrality by 2030, assured the city councilor of Lyon.
The Pierre-Audry gymnasium is a good illustration of this desire for environmental sobriety. Efficient lighting, more qualitative flooring, asbestos removal and renovation of the walls will allow the gymnasium to have a facelift. The works must be spread over the summer periods of 2022 and 2023 and amount to €600,000.
Many operations in school groups
“Most of the work we do during these periods is mainly focused on our schools“, explained Sylvain Godinot. Indeed, nearly 40% of the 240 operations are intended for the various school groups in the Metropolis.
Among the renovations, seven schools will carry out exterior fittings. The objective is to re-vegetate the surroundings of schools to create islands of freshness and to develop spaces that make it safe for children to walk around.
The Pagnol school (6th), the Gerson school (5th), the Sacré Coeur school (7th), are among the school complexes that will benefit from these projects.
The city is investing €7 million to carry out all of these renovations.
