As we told you on Friday (see yesterday’s brief at 8:31 p.m.), Jérôme Boateng (33 years old, 17 games in L1 this season) was not called up for the Ligue 1 match against Nice this Saturday (9 p.m. ). The central defender of Lyon is however not injured or suspended. It is indeed a sidelining, confirms the newspaper L’Equipe, which first highlights the performance of the German.
The former Bayern Munich player, still disappointing in Monaco (2-0) last weekend, is not the expected pillar. For a few games, this role has rather belonged to the young Castello Lukeba. This did not prevent Boateng from talking with Peter Bosz after the meeting on the Rock to question the coach’s choices. The Dutchman must not have appreciated this intervention, any more than the nervousness of his summer recruit.
Indeed, the sports daily explains that Boateng excessively claims his role as leader, despite his insufficient performances. Suddenly, the Lyonnais is nervous and “takes the lead with everyone” according to a close friend of the group. Remember that he was involved in an altercation with Rayan Cherki in Rennes (4-1 defeat) last November, after yelling at captain Léo Dubois in the middle of the match. And now the newspaper reveals a physical clash between Boateng and Bruno Guimares dating from a few weeks ago in training. So many reasons that pushed Bosz to dismiss him, for the moment on a provisional basis.
