The Prefecture of the Rhône reacts
Following the publication of the report of the Ministry of the Interior, on the thefts and violence committed in public transport in Lyon and the Rhone, the Prefecture of the Rhone would like to provide details.
“- The statistics presented compare the years 2021 and 2020. It should be noted, in the analysis of these statistics, that Covid-19 necessarily has consequences on the evolution of delinquency and can therefore lead to strong increases between 2020 and 2021. These increases are not representative of the reality of the situation.
– Since the beginning of 2022, in the first 8 months, compared to 2021, violence in public transport has decreased by 21%. We are seeing a 31% decline this summer.
– With respect to the number of passengers, it is useful to remember that Lyon is the first connecting station after Paris and has the first public transport network, after Paris, but before Lille and Marseille. “
