Lynne Marta, Footloose Actress, Dies at Home in Los Angeles After Battle with Cancer

The Hollywood star spent her last days at her home in Los Angeles and died peacefully there. Marta had been battling cancer for years. She leaves her sister MJ and her cat Mr. Peaches after.

The actress was best known for playing the role of Lulu Warnicker – the aunt of Ren (Kevin Bacon) – in the iconic 1984 film ‘Footloose’. She also had a number of guest roles on TV. She appeared in ‘Starsky & Hutch’, ‘Charlie’s Angels’, ‘The Mod Squad’, ‘The Monkees’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘The Rookies’. Marta also had a recurring role on ‘Love, American Style’.

Lynne Marta had an open relationship with ‘Starsky & Hutch’ actor David Soul while he was married to Karen Carlson. “During the filming of the series, Lynne and David lived together, but also spent time with other people,” wrote ‘People’ in 1983. David died on January 5, 2024 from various health problems, including cancer and a chronic lung disease .
