Lycée Paul Éluard Stands Against Immigration Law: Mobilizing for Human Rights

Lycée Paul Éluard mobilized against the Immigration law, for the rights of all

Thursday December 21, 2023

Staff at the Paul Éluard high school, we are today on strike and mobilized to denounce the Immigration law passed on Tuesday December 19. The measures adopted destroy the fundamental rights of every person to health, security, housing and education. They will worsen the financial, social and administrative precariousness of the people targeted. They will complicate access to nationality for children born in France. They will throw families onto the street, allow the expulsion of seriously ill people to countries where they cannot be treated, restrict access to studies, leave minors on the street without protection, subject everyone to arbitrariness of administrative decisions by reducing the possibilities of appeal. This is an exceptional right for people designated as non-European foreigners.

We refuse this racism and this hierarchy of rights and lives. We call for mobilization to prevent the application of these measures. We will join any initiative to overturn this law and defend the lives and rights of all. Because in the current state, what we see is that the rights to education, to health, to a rapid and justified response from administrations, to social protection, etc. are mistreated, and that the urgency is to defend more rights, and not to reduce them for some.

Join us at 4 p.m. in front of the high school for a group photo with banner and signs.
