Premiere in the Angerbrücke tram station: on June 22nd, the first blood donation campaign of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe took place there in cooperation with the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Leipzig University Hospital. Over 60 LVB colleagues took part in the campaign and donated over 20 liters of blood.
Prof. Reinhard Henschler, Director of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine at the University Hospital Leipzig, was pleased with the good result: “We would like to thank the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe for their initiative to carry out a joint blood donation campaign. From our point of view, this first appointment was a complete success, because we were also able to welcome numerous new donors among all the voluntary donors “. It was also of great importance that the management of LVB had set a good example for all employees and thus clearly supported the action internally. “We look forward to being able to intensify this cooperation even further and to have the opportunity in the future to win life-saving blood donations for Leipzig from the LVB”, said Reinhard Henschler.
The Institute for Transfusion Medicine supplies the Leipzig University Hospital as well as hospitals and medical practices in the region with life-saving blood donations. Employees of the Leipziger Blutbank converted the event room in the Angerbrücke into a blood donation center: with registration reception, waiting and relaxation area, loungers for taking blood and an extra room for a doctor’s consultation. Employees could donate blood during their working hours. As an employer, LVB supports the commitment of its employees and would like to give something back to the people of Leipzig who have remained loyal in difficult times.
