On the northern inner city ring road at Gerberstrasse (Tröndlinring/Willy-Brandt-Platz), track construction work in two phases is necessary at short notice, according to the Leipzig Transport Company (LVB). From September 9th to 10th, tracks will be renewed in the southern track area and from October 10th to 18th, the entire crossing will be renewed in the same track. There will be changes for trams as well as for motor vehicle traffic.
Tram lines 1, 3, 4, 7 and 15 will continue to run as normal from the main station towards Goerdelerring. However, there will be changes in the direction of the main station. Tram line 14 will run in the opposite direction around the inner city ring on both routes. There will be changes for lines 12 and N17.
Die Lines 1, 7, 15 and N17 travel towards the main station from Goerdelerring and also stop at the main station stop, west side (platform E). They turn around in the loop on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße and then travel to the main station stop (platforms B/D). So don’t be alarmed if the tram makes an extra circuit.
Die Line 3 runs in the direction of Taucha or Sommerfeld from Waldplatz with a diversion via Westplatz, Neues Rathaus, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz, Augustusplatz to the main station, stop Wintergartenstraße (platform H) and then on to the Hofmeisterstraße stop.
Die Line 4 runs in the direction of Stötteritz from Leibnizstraße with a diversion via Lortzingstraße, Zoo, Michaelisstraße and Wilhelm-Liebknecht-Platz to the Hauptbahnhof stop (platform D).
Die Line 12 runs in the direction of the main station from Nordplatz with a diversion via Michaelisstraße and Wilhelm-Liebknecht-Platz to the main station stop, west side (platform F) and then via Goerdelerring (platform A), Lortzingstraße, Zoo and Nordplatz back in the direction of Gohlis-Nord.
Die Line 14 runs in the direction of the main station from Westplatz anti-clockwise around the city center via the New Town Hall, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz, Augustusplatz, the main station (platform A), Goerdelerring (platform C), Gottschedstraße to Westplatz and back in the direction of the Plagwitz S-Bahn station.
Except for the Lortzingstraße and Michaelisstraße stops, all other stops on the diversion routes are barrier-free.
For the Motor vehicle traffic The LVB’s track work means a restriction on Gerberstraße: On Willy-Brandt-Platz at the height of Gerberstraße, one lane in the direction of the main station will be reduced.
And while the trams will be subject to the same diversion regime from October 10 to 18 as on September 9 and 10, the restrictions on motor vehicle traffic will be much more drastic in October: At the Trönlinring/Willy-Brandt-Platz/Gerberstraße intersection, it will not be possible to cross the tracks. You can still drive straight ahead along the inner-city ring between east and west in both directions.
