Luxury Jewelry Store Robbed in Mexico City’s Polanco Neighborhood: Several Assailants Caught on Video

Visitors to a shopping center in Mexico recorded the moment when several subjects robbed a luxury jewelry store in the Polanco neighborhood, located in the country’s capital.

Videos shared on social networks show the five assailants hitting the shop windows with mallets and axeswhich is located in Plaza Antara, one of the luxury outdoor shopping centers in Mexico City.

The events would have occurred on the night of Monday, June 26 and the first reports indicate that at least one of those involved was armed.

The authorities of Miguel Hidalgo, where the Polanco neighborhood belongs, indicated that no people were injured and that the assailants would have taken at least 15 luxury watches.

For his part, the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, reported that the authorities managed to find the capture of a first suspect.

“From the robbery to the jewelry store in Antara Polanco we inform that the first arrest has already been achieved after carrying out several operational actions during the night. There are more people to arrest and this fact will not go unpunished in our City. They will all be arrested.”said the official on his Twitter account.

Images shared after the robbery show the shop windows broken. In addition, witnesses who witnessed the events pointed out that the strong blows alerted the visitors to the place.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation to clarify the recent events.

“We started an investigation after the robbery of a jewelry store located in a shopping center in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office. Experts in criminalistics, photography, valuation and identification work in the place”, added the entity.
