Despite the corona closures, the Bijenkorf stores made more profit in 2021 than the year before. The result has not yet returned to its former level, but the luxury department store is once again looking to the future with confidence.
In the course of the pandemic, the Bijenkorf was forced to implement a reorganization. The company would also have been put up for sale by its owners. “The second corona period has forced us as an organization to show resilience, creativity and inventiveness,” said CEO Giovanni Colauto on Wednesday when the annual figures were announced.
The chain of luxury department stores with six branches booked a profit of 16.6 million euros in 2021. Online shoppers in particular let the money roll. “The online turnover increased by 10 percent, as did the number of visitors.”
The webshop, which was already active across the immediate national borders, was also opened in Monaco and Luxembourg.
