Luxury Cars Market in the Czech Republic: Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini Lead the Way

The most popular brand with sports genes is Porsche, which was purchased by 248 interested parties from the Czech Republic this year, i.e. a quarter more than last year. 46 owners left the importer in the new Ferrari, which is a similar increase to the Porsche. Sales of the Lamborghini brand, which celebrates its 60th anniversary on Sunday, rose 80 percent to 27 cars from January to April.

Sales of the luxury sports brand Bentley decreased by 36 percent in the Czech Republic this year to 14 cars, Rolls-Royce recorded a decrease in registrations by 15 percent to 11 cars. The most popular luxury model was the Mercedes S with 130 cars sold, ahead of the BMW 7 Series. The sports car class is dominated by the BMW 4 Series with 83 units sold, with the Porsche 911 and Subaru BRZ sharing second place.

A large part of exceptional cars reach Czech customers as used. This year, for example, the Czechs imported 298 second-hand Porsches, 48 Ferraris, 19 Lamborghinis or ten used Rolls-Royces. Some of them are cars that expand the collections of domestic collectors or investors.

According to František Vahala, curator of the Portu Galera collection, classic cars have increased in value by 185 percent over the past decade, surpassing such investment commodities as wine, watches and art. Only rare whiskeys are currently more profitable.

“The rarity of the car, i.e. the number of pieces produced, the uniqueness or the story of a particular vehicle is essential. And also his condition. Classic cars are not cheap to maintain and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find key people such as mechanics or tinsmiths. Unlike other alternative investments, you need to choose a specific car very carefully, especially because of its condition. In short, a car is not a static object in order to function, it must move, otherwise it withers away. And that costs something,” he pointed out. According to him, the classic car market will continue to grow with the advent of electromobility.
