Luxurious California Home Teeters on Edge of Cliff – But Owner Claims No Danger

At the very end of Dana Point in California is the exclusive and luxurious home with a fantastic view of the sea.

But after violent storms in the state recently, dramatic drone images emerged from the area. The land masses under the luxury homes have slipped and one of the homes is now practically on the edge of a cliff.

But despite the pictures, that home or any of the nearby properties have not been evacuated, and the authorities in Dana Point believe that no further measures are necessary, write LA Times.

Dr. Lewis Bruggeman, who owns one of the exposed houses just above the landslide area, says that his house is “not threatened”.

Geotechnical engineers have examined the house and concluded that there is no imminent danger to the building.

– This is very good news. So, frankly, it looks much more frightening than it really is, says mayor of Dana Point Jamey Federic to the newspaper.

More rain is expected in the area in the coming days and authorities have advised the owner to order a professional technical assessment of the property, a statement to KTLA said.

Several cities in Orange Country have historically had problems with such landslides during periods of heavy rain.

In Laguna Beach, a 1978 landslide destroyed more than 20 homes in Bluebird Canyon. In 2005, another landslide occurred in the same area, which destroyed 17 homes, writes the LA Times.
