Luxembourg confirms that it wants to join the international drone coalition

On Wednesday, October 2, the Minister of Defense of Luxembourg, Yuriko Backes (Yuriko back) in Riga signed Luxembourg’s declaration that it wanted to join the international drone coalition led by Latvia and the United Kingdom in support of Ukraine.

“Luxembourg joining the drone coalition would greatly contribute to the development and development of new drone technologies so that Ukraine would be one step ahead of the aggressor. We will also invite other allies to actively participate in the drone coalition to increase the level of supplies to Ukraine,” says Defense Minister Andris Spruds.

According to the drone coalition’s Memorandum of Understanding, existing coalition members must agree on entry into new countries. With Luxembourg joining the drone coalition, 17 countries would cooperate there.

Members of the drone coalition have already provided significant support to Ukraine through drone deliveries. Since the coalition was established in February this year, Latvia has ensured the delivery of 3,000 combat drones of various types and performance to Ukraine. Latvia has set aside 20 million euros for drone coalition goals this year, and also provides drone testing opportunities for manufacturers and the armed forces to continuously develop drone technologies.

Along with Latvia, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden participates in the drone coalition.
