That also happened promptly, but Geertruida’s advisers – including captain Leroy Fer’s brother – laid down an extreme package of demands, according to insiders.

sport">Feyenoord does not want to say anything about the amount, but it is clear that the demands that have been made on behalf of Geertruida for the club cannot be coughed up. Geertruida, a boy from Rotterdam South who always said he dreamed of a career in De Kuip, has only been playing in Feyenoord’s first team for two years.

sport">Frank Arnesen says he was forced to pull the plug from the negotiations. He has to deal with a limited salary budget, but in recent seasons an exception was possible. Only then it was a player of the caliber Steven Berghuis, who earned almost two million euros as top scorer and captain. Geertruida is obviously not at that level yet.
