Major panic in England: Luton Town player suddenly collapses

The Premier League was rocked by a medical emergency on Saturday afternoon. During the Bournemouth – Luton Town match, Tom Lockyer, defender of the visitors, suddenly collapsed. The game was then immediately stopped at a 1-1 score. The incident shocked everyone on the field and the stands. According to Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse, Lockyer is now conscious and able to respond. It is now also known that the competition has been definitively stopped.
About an hour into the match, Lockyer suddenly went to the ground near the halfway line. There was no one near him, and the players on the field quickly saw that something was wrong.
They then shouted for medical help, and it came. While Lockyer, the Luton captain, was being treated, the players went to the dressing room. About ten minutes later, the 29-year-old Welsh defender was carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
Earlier this year, Lockyer became unwell on the pitch during the Premier League promotion match between Luton and Coventry City. He subsequently had surgery on his heart, after which he was able to continue his career.

According to Sky Sports commentator Taphouse, Bournemouth’s club doctor has confirmed that Lockyer is conscious and able to respond.
It was then also announced that the match had been definitively stopped. When and how the match will ultimately be played will be announced at a later date.
