Luton footballer Tom Lockyer, who suffered a cardiac arrest during the English League game against Bournemouth on December 16, announced this Sunday that he will consult specialists to decide his future.
The 29-year-old Luton captain had a defibrillator implanted after suffering a cardiac arrest during the game, which ended up being suspended, and left hospital after five days in hospital.
“I will do everything in my power, in every possible way, to help the team. It remains to be seen to what extent, as I have to meet with experts in the new year”, said the Wales international, in a message on social media.
Lockyer also thanked the “heroic acts” of players, staff, doctors and paramedics, saying they saved his life, and praised the support of the fans.
“Seeing the banners on the pitch, hearing my name being sung meant a lot to me and my family”, he highlighted, also thanking the club for their support.
This was the second occasion that Lockyer had fainted during a match. The first time occurred in May, during the final of the Championship play-offs, the English second tier, due to a cardiac arrhythmia.
Luton is currently in 18th place in the English League, with 15 points, in the relegation zone.
