Bellingham’s stoppage time goal saw Madrid triumph in a spectacular game against the Catalans.
Madrid “Real” Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrii Lunin won on his field “Barcelona” in the central match of the 32nd round of the Spanish La Liga. El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid ended with a score of 3:2.
The Catalans took the lead at the very beginning of the match. In the 6th minute, Lunin made a mistake on the way out after Rafinha’s corner kick, allowing Andreas Christensen head the ball into the goal at the far post.
In the 18th minute, the “cream” won back. Vinicius Junior realized the penalty awarded by the referee for a foul by Pau Kubarsi against Lucas Vazquez in the penalty area of the “blue garnets”.
At the 28th minute of the match, another rather controversial episode occurred. After a corner kick from the right wing, 16-year-old Blaugrana winger Lamine Yamal struck at the near post, but Lunin saved the Royals by clearing the ball from his own goal line.
The video assistant referees (VAR) watched replays for a long time trying to determine whether the ball crossed the Real Madrid goal line. This task was complicated by the fact that in the Spanish championship there is still no system of automatic fixation of the crossing of the goal line by the ball. And yet, the referees decided in favor of the Madrid club and did not count the goal.
At the end of the first half, the midfielder of “Barcelona” Frankie de Jong received a serious injury. The Dutch football player was carried off the field on a stretcher in tears.
In the second half, Xavi’s wards took the lead again. At the 69th minute Fermin Lopez finished the ball into the goal after Lunin deflected Yamal’s cross in front of him from the right corner of the penalty area.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s wards very quickly restored parity in the match. At the 73rd minute Lucas Vasquez closed Vinicius’ cross from the left flank with a precise shot into the near corner.
The resolution of this intense confrontation came in compensated time. At the 90th + 1st minute Jude Bellingham at the far post poked the ball under the crossbar after Lucas Vasquez’s cross from the right wing.
Thanks to this victory, “Real” (81 points) strengthened its leadership in La Liga, with six rounds to the end of the championship, Madrid are ahead of “Barcelona” by 11 points.
In the next round of Primera, the “Blancos” will meet “Real Sociedad” away on April 26, and the Catalans will host the “Valencia” of Ukrainian forward Roman Yaremchuk on April 29.
