There is no end to the revelations about the way the 58-year-old owner of the fatal amusement park in Pefkohori, Halkidiki, acted, where 19-year-old Yiannis lost his life.
The man had spread his “nets” in Thessaloniki as well, bringing toys to the Christmas village of Thermaikos municipality as revealed by Thesstoday.gr. In fact, while the company signed a 60-day lease agreement with the municipality, it took a manhunt with the Police, local government and then a legal dispute with the municipality, until it finally left two and a half months later.

It all started on December 15, 2021 when the municipality of Thermaikos signed a 60-day lease agreement to install an ice rink and amusement park machines on municipal land in Perea. Although on paper this particular company was in his wife’s name, the 58-year-old seems to have been the one who took over its management and appeared as a person in charge in the municipality.
Competent sources of the municipality of Thermaikos reveal to Thesstoday.gr that although the lease period ended on February 12, 2022, the 58-year-old not only did not leave – as stipulated in the agreement and despite the repeated recommendations of the municipal authority from the very beginning -, but it operated arbitrarily until Easter of the same year.
The municipality cut off his electricity, he brought a generator
The municipality requested the assistance of the Hellenic Police for the removal of the amusement park, but this was episodic: On the one hand, the local government lowered the circuit breakers to cut off the electricity supply, and on the other hand, the 58-year-old raised them arbitrarilycontinuing its normal operation.
According to secure information even when representatives of the municipality brought in an electrician to cut the wires, the 58-year-old enlisted his own generator on the plot to operate the games.
THE municipality of Thermaikos he didn’t sit idly by, but took the legal route to ensure the departure of the amusement park from the plot.
As can be seen from the minutes posted on the “Clarity” program, he appointed a bailiff to serve an administrative suspension on the company. At the same time, the authorities proceeded to certify a fine for occupying a common space of 2,500 euros and also for the arbitrary reconnection of electricity which, in fact, is expected to be heard next September.
The owner of the amusement park responded with precautionary measures
The fact that after the administrative expulsion the company not only did not leave, but even reached the point to file an appeal and injunctive measures against the municipality of Thermaikos!
The municipal authority at the time responded with legal means, appointing a lawyer to file a memorandum to refute the appeal, as can be seen in the minutes.
It is noted that the minutes state exactly the conditions of the agreement, with the duration of the lease beginning on the day it is signed, on December 15, 2021 and ending 60 days later. As it is typically stated, “after the end of the contractual period of the lease, this lease will be automatically terminated, without recourse, and without any prior disturbance from the lessor to the lessee”.
The vision of the management at the time was to install a large amusement park with even more machines and games in the summer of 2022, and if the cooperation with the company in question was good, they would also sign a new agreement. However, the management at the time decided to part ways, seeing unprofessional behavior on the part of the company, conditions that do not inspire the image of a reliable amusement park.
The amusement park continued to operate in the same way until the Easter holidays at the end of April 2022, when it was forced to leave, with the municipality abandoning any thoughts of a summer amusement park.
