Luna-25 Spacecraft Begins Analysis of Raw Data as it Heads to the Moon

The start of the analysis of raw data of a Russian spacecraft heading to the moon

Russia on Sunday started operating scientific instruments aboard the Luna-25 spacecraft, which set off on a journey to land on the moon. Scientists have begun to analyze their raw data.

The Soyuz-2.1 rocket, carrying the Luna-25 spacecraft, blasted off from the Vostochny cosmodrome in Russia’s Far East at 2:11 am on Friday Moscow time and exited Earth’s orbit an hour later.

And “Luna-25” is the first space mission launched by Russia to land on the surface of the moon since 1976, in an effort to become the first country to make a soft landing on the south pole of the moon, an area believed to contain pockets of water ice.

The Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos) said in a statement published via “Telegram” that “Luna-25 continues its journey to Earth’s natural satellite… All of the station’s automated systems are working properly, communication with it is stable, and the energy balance is positive.”

She added, “We obtained the first measurement data for the trip to the moon, and the scientific team of the project began to process it.”

Russia seeks to continue “Luna-25” in working for a year on the surface of the south pole of the moon, as scientists in “NASA” and other space agencies discovered traces of water ice in the craters in the south pole.
