Djurgården has had a tough season, but with two straight victories, they had finally got some wind in their sails. Until you went up to Luleå, that is.
Even after a period, Norrbotten had 3-0. Nor in the subsequent periods did the Stockholmers have anything to oppose and it eventually ran away to a full 7-0 – Saturday’s biggest victory in the SHL.
– I think we come out really well in the first and really scoop on and play our game and take care of the puck. We sprinkle some there first and then I think we just keep rubbing on, says Jonathan Andersson, one of the goal scorers, to C More.
Linköping seems to have a new favorite resistance. For the second time this season, Rögle was defeated and the East Goths get some respite after a swaying start to the season.
Rögle had not lost at home so far this season and is at the top of the SHL, but against Linköping, the home crowd got to see the season’s first loss in the Catena arena.
After an even first period the team then dominated for a period each and after 60 minutes it was 3-3. In the long run, however, it was Linköping who decided to 4-3.
– We lead 3-1 before the third and have three points in hand, but become a bit passive. Nice to at least get two points with us, says Markus Ljungh, who scored the decisive goal for Linköping, to C More.
Due to the loss, the people of Skåne lose some ground at the top of the table.
It did not get better because the top competitor Frölunda, which in itself has two games more played, won the home match against Skellefteå with 2-1.
At the bottom of the table, Timrå finally breathes morning air. After twelve straight losses, they took a long-awaited victory at home against Brynäs today.
Three goals in the second period were redemptive for the bottom team who won 4-1.
– Very much needed now before the break, we gain self-confidence and can go on leave, says Sebastian Hartmann in C More.
– The energy level is completely different today, he continues.
The team from Medelpad is still last in SHL ice hockey, with three points up to Djurgården, which is closest.
Just over 80 km further south, visiting Oskarshamn could easily beat Malmö. The Smålanders won 4–1.
