President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is expected to take sustainable actions in Brazilian agriculture to the 28th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 28), such as the program for the recovery and conversion of degraded pastures. The topic was discussed this Thursday (26) in a meeting between Lula and the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro.
Fávaro updated the president on the Brazilian position at COP 28, which will be held at the end of November, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and on the Brazilian sustainable production program, which foresees the recovery and conversion of 40 million hectares of pastures low productivity in arable areas.
“Brazil can grow and increase 40 million hectares with agriculture, livestock and forestry, but mainly with respect for the environment, being an example for the world. This is one of the examples that President Lula will take to the COP”, said Fávaro, at the end of the meeting.
According to the minister, Lula was excited about the possibility of attracting international resources for the pasture conversion program. “He said that he will personally dedicate himself to this to boost growth”, informed the minister.
