Lukoil-Neftohim union: We pay each other, we will protect jobs in the refinery

Lukoil

Unions at the Lukoil-Neftohim refinery held an emergency meeting behind closed doors to discuss whether and what action to take if the waiver for Russian oil is revoked.

“We will use all legal methods and means to protect the jobs of our members”, said the president of the Union of Bulgarian Petrochemists “Lukoil” Pavlin Vakovski.

“Lukoil” pays for everything”, the President of the Union of Bulgarian Petrochemists “LUKOIL” Pavlin Vakovski said to the media on the occasion of the expected payment of taxes from the refinery after the extraordinary meeting.

He assured that the union will use all legal methods and means to keep people’s jobs. The trade unionist called on the politicians “to stop waving the derogation like a pawn”.

“Oil can be taken from two places – the Black Sea, Novorossiysk, and through the Bosphorus. If at the last moment you are looking to import oil, it is normal for there to be an increase in prices”, said Vakovski and called for predictability and decisions to be agreed with the specialists.

According to the expert Delyan Lazarov himself, the increase in the price of the raw material will also affect the final prices. The expert pointed out that 5,000 petrochemists are members of the Lukoil trade union.

“There are 3,000 people at the Burgas Refinery – Lukoil plus the service organizations. 1,300 are directly employed in oil refining, separately we have an IT company and other companies with about 3,000 employees. Together with their families, they become 9,000. There is no other oil refining enterprise in Bulgaria, anything that devalues our work is unacceptable to us,” Lazarov was categorical.
