A sale of Lukoil Neftohim Burgas to a Qatari-British consortium is not being prepared.
This was officially announced by LITASCO SA, shareholder of the refinery in Bulgaria.
A few days ago, information appeared in the Financial Times, according to which the Russian energy giant Lukoil plans to sell its majority stake in its refinery in Bulgaria, the company’s largest asset in the Balkans, to a Qatari-British consortium by the end of the year.
The newspaper refers to its sources.
LITASCO SA states that the assumptions made in these publications are “inaccurate and misleading, in particular there are no discussions with the aforementioned Qatari-British consortium” and there has been no communication with the authorities of the Russian Federation on the subject.
LUKOIL remains committed to conducting a transparent process and will continue to inform the Bulgarian authorities, the Union of Bulgarian Petrochemists LUKOIL and other interested parties about any significant development of the Bulgarian assets, the company states.
And they add that various options for its business in Bulgaria are being analyzed under the coordination of independent consultants with the participation of a number of renowned market players.
However, no decision has been made on a specific deal or potential counterparty.
A day ago, the Acting Minister of Energy, Vladimir Malinov, announced that neither he nor the Ministry of Energy had information about the sale of Lukoil Neftohim Burgas.
