The company is the second largest oil producer in Russia
Russia’s second-largest oil company has called on President Vladimir Putin to end the invasion of Ukraine, CNN reported. The board of directors issued a statement to its shareholders, staff and customers calling for an “immediate end to the armed conflict”.
“We express our sympathy for all the victims affected by this tragedy. We strongly support the ceasefire and the settlement of problems through negotiations and diplomacy,” the document said.
Lukoil produces more than 2 percent of the world’s crude oil and has more than 100,000 employees, the media reported. The company’s executive director Vagit Alekperov is one of the richest people in Russia and has a majority stake in Lukoil.
