Luke Shaw Crisis of Confidence in the Mourinho Era

Luke Shaw is enjoying his best performance together Manchester United. However, Shaw experienced a crisis of confidence when trained Jose Mourinho.

United’s left-back was only played 55 times by Mourinho for about 1.5 seasons. In that period, Shaw only created one goal and three assists in all competitions.

Not only his poor performance, Shaw’s relationship with the Portuguese manager was not harmonious enough. Mourinho did not hesitate to criticize the English footballer openly. Once, Mourinho claimed that Shaw played well against Everton because “I made every decision for him.”

“But I had no confidence at that time. I lost my faith. I think that’s what changed with Ole. He set me right and I got my confidence back and I’m enjoying it right now.”

“Joy and confidence. For me, those dual things are the biggest things you need on the pitch. You need faith in your ability to perform at the highest level. I feel I have it now,” he said. Shaw reminiscing about hard times to train Jose Mourinho.
