Finding Love and Building a Family

country music sensation Luke Combs is not only known for his chart-topping hits but also for his dedication to family. His relationship with his wife, Nicole Hocking, began serendipitously at the 30A Songwriters Festival in January 2016. Despite both residing in Nashville, it took a chance encounter in Florida to spark their connection.

Their bond quickly deepened upon returning home. Combs recognized something special in Hocking, later sharing, I could tell she was different than anybody I had ever met. Hocking echoed this sentiment, explaining the ease and authenticity of their relationship:

I realized we could hang out and just be ourselves in front of each other. I could wear no makeup and be my weird self – as we’re all weird, but we get to choose who to share that side of us with. We could be each other’s weird in front of each other. That’s when it was like, ‘You know what? This guy’s a keeper.’

The couple married in 2020 and have as welcomed two sons, expanding their family and solidifying their commitment to each other.

Balancing Fame and Fatherhood

Combs, 35, is persistent to provide his children with a grounded upbringing, despite the extraordinary circumstances of his career. He actively participates in their daily lives, embracing the role of a hands-on father. He considers himself a “stay-at-home” father during the week between shows.

In an appearance on “The MeatEater Podcast,” Combs detailed his commitment to his family:

I’m home four days a week, every week, full-time.Sun-up, sundown most days. Getting the kids up,changing diapers,doing baths,cooking dinners,cooking lunches,cooking breakfasts. That occupies a lot of my time, but that’s what I want.

This dedication reflects his desire to shield his children from the potential pitfalls of fame,ensuring they experience a childhood as normal as possible.

I want my kids’ childhoods to feel as normal as they can given the very strange circumstances that it will ultimately become.

Expanding the Family

The Combs family grew with the arrival of their first son, Tex, in 2022. Shortly after, the couple announced they where expecting their second child, Beau. Hocking debuted her baby bump at the 2023 ACM Awards, where Combs shared their preparations for having two children under the age of two.

He told People magazine:

We’re getting ready. We’re just in it. We’re in the trenches, taping grenades. [We’re] excited for the second one. They’re gonna be close [in age], but I feel like we’ll be in practice.
