It is worth recalling that after a wave of protests as a result of falsified presidential elections in Belarus, the self-proclaimed government has repeatedly stated that the protest activity was allegedly coordinated through Telegram channels. After a while, Telegram channels were recognized as extremist materials:
- NEXTA-Live;
- BYPOL;
- “Belarus of the Brain”
- “MotolkoHelp”.
In the last few months of this year alone, the Belarusian security forces conducted a series of searches in the editorial offices of publications that were not recognized by the state, namely:
- “Our Field”;
- “Brestskaya Gazeta”;
- Intex-Press;
- “Media-Polesie”;
- “Inform-walk”;
- “Hantsavichy time”;
In particular, as a result of the arrest of 15 employees of the opposition portal TUT.by, the accused, allegedly in the case of the aforementioned publication, have been in pre-trial detention centers or under house arrest for the last two months.
