The presidents of Belarus and Russia – Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin – agreed on the deployment of a joint regional military group. This was announced by Lukashenko himself at a meeting on security issues, reported the BelTA agency, quoted by BTA.
He recalled that after an informal meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States in St. Petersburg last week, he spoke privately with Putin.
“In connection with the escalation of tensions along the western borders of the State of the Union (between Belarus and Russia, br), we have agreed on the deployment of a regional grouping of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. All this according to our documents. If the threat level reaches today’s level, as we are now starting to activate the Union State grouping The basis (I have always said) of this grouping is the army, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. I must inform you that the formation of this group has started. I think it has been going on for two days now. I have been given the order to proceed with the formation of this group “, explained Alexander Lukashenko.
He announced that through unofficial channels he had received a warning about a prepared strike against Belarus from the territory of Ukraine – Kiev wanted to organize the “Crimea 2 Bridge”. Lukashenko told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to touch “a single meter” of the territory of his country with his dirty paws.
The possible entry of Belarusian forces into Ukraine would be a sign of a new escalation of the Ukrainian conflict, stresses France Press.
