Lukashenko: There are plans to invade Belarus to divide the Grodno region – Abroad – News

“That’s why they (Western countries) have set a goal to first separate this area – Grodno. It has recently been hoisted Polish flags,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the official news agency BelTA.

“Now the homeland is in danger. We cannot joke. Furthermore, it is not a weak force – NATO. That is why I warned the Russian President about the situation in Belarus. We have full mutual understanding, we have a proper agreement within the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Union.” pointed out the president.

“These are not just problems for Belarus, as each other says in Russia,” Lukashenko added.

“Belarus’s problem today is no less important for Russia than for Belarus. It attacks Russia first. But it wants to shock us. It will not happen! We will give a counterattack,” he stressed.

“Under these circumstances, I was forced to relocate a large number of soldiers to the west, especially in the Grodno region,” Lukashenko explained.

Five “centers of power” are working against Belarus to destabilize the situation, the president said.

One such “government in exile” is Warsaw, according to Lukashenko. It is represented by former Belarusian presidential candidate Valery Capkalo.

The second “center of strength” is in Lithuania, and it is represented by the presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovska, the leader said.

Lukashenko did not comment on the other three centers.

“I just don’t want to list them – they’re from America to Warsaw,” he said.

According to the official results of the presidential election in Belarus on August 9, the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko won 80.1% of the vote and the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovska – 10.1%, but the opposition believes that the election results are fake and Tikhanovska has won the election convincingly.

Protests against electoral fraud and President Lukashenko, who have often escalated into protests by security forces, have continued in the capital, Minsk, since 9 August. During the protests, several thousand people were detained and several hundred were injured. Workers in many companies have gone on strike.
