President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met the interior ministers of the Ivy countries (Cooperation of Independent States) in Minsk on Thursday, August 8. He commented on US foreign policy and expressed concern that the US might use the conflict in the Middle East to start another world war.
– It seems that the foreign policy of the United States has become well established under the leadership of the current president, Joe Biden, during the last four years. They have clearly defined friends, enemies and bastards, Lukashenko commented, according to the Belarusian news agency Belta.
In addition, the President of Belarus estimates that after the US presidential election, the change of power would not go smoothly.
– When the new administration comes to power, the situation will be similar to Afghanistan. It won’t be the first time. To change the government they have to start a small war.
– God forbid if they use the conflict in the Middle East to start a new world war. But they are ready for it, Lukashenko said.
Community
In addition to Belarus, the Ivy community includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia. Moldova left the community in 2023. Lukashenko emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among the Ivy countries and warned against pursuing short-term interests.
– If Russia collapses, all the other Ivy countries will fall into that vortex. It may be that no state could survive without this community. If we don’t understand this today, we will be treated separately, the leader of Belarus emphasized.
– Who knows what will happen to us and our countries tomorrow and whether we will have to turn to Russia. Recent events show that we are not welcome anywhere. We must stand together, Lukashenko continued.
