Direct speech from Lukashenko: “We came to the same conclusion that problematic issues have always existed and will always exist. If we intend to resolve them, then they must be resolved at the negotiating table, without making demarches without reasons, without specific reasons.”

Details: According to him, at the meeting, CSTO members discussed the situation in the Caucasus and “some dissatisfaction of one of the members of the Collective Security Council,” referring to Armenia’s decision not to attend the organization’s summit in Minsk.

Background:

  • Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday arrived in Minskwhere the CSTO session will take place, which was ignored by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
  • Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik said that decisions in the CSTO are made by consensus, and despite the absence of the Armenian side, he said, the decisions will be legitimate.
  • Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan explained earlier that the country “numerous questions arose“to the CSTO, to which there are still no answers.
  • Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Armenia of “trying to sit on two chairs“, as Yerevan improves relations with the West.
