Neither Russia nor Ukraine warned Belarus about the arrival of Wagner’s mercenaries in the country, Lukashenko said.
Alexander Lukashenko says that Belarus has not warned either Ukraine or Russia about the Wagner group. He denied information about the “drain” in an interview with CNN, which publishes BelTA Saturday, October 2.
“An absolute lie, Matthew. No one from the Ukrainian government, not the president of Ukraine informed me. I was informed by my own special services. The State Security Committee, which controlled the path of the Wagnerites from the border to the hotel and back. Nobody from Ukraine or Russia told me. I haven’t called this issue, ”Lukashenka assured.
According to him, he was informed about the Wagnerians immediately after they crossed the Belarusian border, and when they settled in a hotel, he ordered to detain them. After that, both Russia and Ukraine asked for the extradition of the Wagnerites.
After that, according to Lukashenka, he sent his eldest son, who was his assistant for national security, to the detainees, to ask where they wanted to go.
“He asked them this question, came and said:“ Dad, they want to go to Russia. ”I say:“ That’s it? There were, in my opinion, 6 citizens of Ukraine. Does everyone want to go to Russia? “-” Yes. “-” Did you ask the Ukrainians a question? “-” They say: only to Russia. ” , – says Lukashenko.
He also stated that he allowed the Wagnerites to visit Belarus in the future, but “only with good intentions.”
