London:Former Liverpool star Lukas Leiva has retired from football. The thirty-six-year-old star retired from football due to heart problems. A defensive midfielder, the Brazilian played 24 games for the national team. He wore the jersey in 346 matches for Liverpool, but only scored one goal. Currently playing for Brazilian club Gremio. Joined the team for the second time.
He played for Liverpool from 2007 to 2017. He came to Liverpool from Gremio for around 50 crore rupees. Played in ten seasons. Won the League Cup in the 2011–12 season with the club. The 2015–16 season saw them finish as runners-up in the Europa League. He also played for Italian club Lazio from 2017 to 2022.
