Lukas Kübler has blossomed into a real regular at SC Freiburg. Sure, the 29-year-old also benefits from Jonathan Schmid’s protracted Corona failure, so that the right defense or rail side belonged to him almost without exception.
On Thursday in the test match against Karlsruher SC, which the Breisgauer won 2-1, Kübler was also accurate and contributed to the 2-0 lead. Against the KSC, the right foot was even used on the unfamiliar left side. That was because youngster Kiliann Sildillia was supposed to play on the right side for 90 minutes.
The 19-year-old should be given playing time to play on the right (rail) side. In order to be able to potentially step in if Kübler should be out again soon or needs a break. Sildillia Kübler already represented the 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig on matchday 8. With Schmid, the return to the competition level is not yet in sight, so Christian Streich should be happy about every back-up for the right.
The SCF head coach also had some praise for the goalscorer and top dog after the game: “That was good. He improved his footballing skills, is now playing more offensively and has already scored against Augsburg in the league, ”said Streich about Kübler’s development.
