Romelu Lukaku so the spotlight is over Inter Milan eliminated in the group phase Champions League on Thursday (10/12) in the morning WIB. He thwarted Inter’s golden opportunity in the last minute.
Lukaku started in the life and death match against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Lukaku is expected to appear impressive to help Inter qualify for the last 16.
The Belgian striker did not do well in this match. Referring to ESPN data, Lukaku has recorded only three attempts to score goals with two of them right on target.
Lukaku only shot three of the 20 total shots Inter players took over 90 minutes. Of the 20 businesses, only four were on target and two of them were from Lukaku.
Lukaku’s unimpressive appearance was complemented by an error that had a bad impact on Inter. Lukaku suddenly became Shakhtar’s defender who thwarted Alexis Sanchez’s header.
The moment occurred in the 89th minute. Christian Eriksen’s corner kick was headed by Sanchez who was standing in the penalty box.
However, the ball that Sanchez directed to the right corner of the goal actually hit Lukaku’s head who did not move when welcoming Eriksen’s corner. As a result, Inter’s chances were wasted and the linesman raised the flag for offside as Lukaku stood in front of the Shakhtar players.
Lukaku’s bad luck complements the disappointing results achieved by Inter. Antonio Conte’s squad failed to reach the three points that must be won to qualify for the next round.
The 0-0 draw made Inter slumped in the caretaker position of Group B. Inter was under Shakhtar, and Borussia Monchengladbach and Real Madrid who made it through to the next round.
