Lukaku greeted Eriksen: “I love you”

Romelu Lukaku scored Belgium’s first goal in the 3-0 victory against Russia. Then he sent a greeting to his club mate in Inter – Denmark’s Christian Eriksen. “Chris, Chris, I love you”, he shouted into the TV camera.

Christian Eriksen’s collapse in Denmark’s European Championship match against Finland overshadowed everything else in the football world on Saturday. The Danish star collapsed lifeless in the grass and medical staff began life-saving care. Later in the evening, Denmark announced that Eriksen was awake and feeling well under the circumstances – and that he received continued care at the hospital.

At the same time in St. Petersburg, Belgium played its European Championship premiere against Russia.

Ten minutes into the match, a ball looked for Romelu Lukaku who made it 1-0. The striker, who on a daily basis is a club mate with Christian Eriksen in the Italian champions Inter, ran straight to a TV camera and shouted “Chris, Chris, I love you”.

Thomas Meunier extended the lead in the 34th minute and Lukaku scored his second goal in the final stages of the match. Belgium won 3-0.
