The Slovenian Luka Doncic scored 73 points – the fourth highest record in the history of the American basketball league – in the visiting victory of the Dallas Mavericks (25 wins and 20 losses) against the Atlanta Hawks (18-27), 148 to 143, in a new day celebrated by the regular phase of the NBA.
Doncic, in 44 minutes and 43 seconds on the State Farm Arena playing field, added 17 of 20 attempts in doubles, 8 of 13 in triples, 15 of 16 in free throws, also capturing ten rebounds and providing seven assists.
The Slovenian’s previous career best was 60 points, scored in December 2022 against the New York Knicks.
Doncic, 24, established the new record for points in the history of the Dallas Mavericks and the fourth best performance ever in the NBA after Wilt Chamberlain (100 points) in 1962, Kobe Bryant (81) in 2006, and new Chamberlain (78) in 1961.
What remains in the anecdote are the 21 points scored by Josh Green as Dallas’ second scorer, eighth in the Western Conference, and the 30 scored by Trae Young for the Hawks, tenth in the Eastern Conference standings.
