Doncic’s hometown was hit by a giant flood, which Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob described as the most ambitious natural disaster in the country’s history.
The floods have affected two-thirds of the country’s territory and have already caused losses of approximately 500 million euros.
On Tuesday, the Latvian government supported the allocation of 50,000 euros to Slovenia to mitigate the consequences of the floods.
As a result of the floods, roads and bridges were blocked in the country, as well as flooded buildings. A national defense and rescue plan has been announced in Slovenia.
At least six people are reported to have died in floods in Slovenia. Thousands of people had to evacuate their homes.
“We are in contact with local authorities to support relief efforts. Given the circumstances, we will continue to respond to needs,” the foundation said in a statement.
“We sincerely thank all the rescuers who are risking their lives to help those who suffered the most. Every resident of Slovenia who has faced the loss of their homes and loved ones due to these floods is in our thoughts and in our hearts. We will help them, as much as we can.”
In 2021, Doncic agreed to a five-year contract with the NBA club Dallas “Mavericks” and a salary of 215 million US dollars.
