Luisa, in Salerno the signal that a woman can do it

A bit of a psychologist, ready to discuss major and minor systems, from international politics to fashion to customs, she does not shy away. Because anyone who enters the ““Lalù Coffee” in Piazza Portanova you will not only find a bar with a high level of service and offerings, you will also find a welcome, a smile, and the availability of Luisa Noschese who, from behind the counter, leads this small business reality that, today, has come of age. Because Caffè Lalù is above all the story of a challenge won, it is the story of a woman, Luisa Noschese, who fought against everything and everyone to give life to “her” creature, a small but great bar where the employees are like a family and the customers, no matter if they are regulars or come for the first time, receive all the care and attention possible, feel pampered. And, in a city, like Salernowhich mercilessly swallows up historic venues and quickly cuts the legs off new initiatives, reaching the milestone of 18 years of activity has all the flavour of an obstacle course that ends on the podium.

«My message is to all women so that, looking at my bar, they can know that it is possible to create a lot from nothing. Even when it seems that everything is lost, they must not give up and believe in themselves“, explains Luisa who in life, since she was a child, has never had discounts. Indeed, like all women gifted with a particular beauty, she had to learn from the very beginning to clash with the absurd paradigm that wants a beautiful woman to also be stupid and that she must necessarily have a man – perhaps a powerful one – who paves the way for her. “It all started by instinct: I met the owner of the Portanova bar that was closed and, without even knowing why, I proposed to take it over.», she recalls with emotion. From that casual meeting began Luisa’s entrepreneurial adventure, who by now was too limited by the role of “face” of the Bar delle Rose and who knew she was ready to take flight.

That experience lasts for years, then things change, the bar closes. Heart and instinct, fate knocks again: «as I was walking after taking over what is now my bar I was just wondering: what will I do now because the economic challenge was important. But I was not discouraged and only thanks to my faith and my family, my mother and my brothers I succeeded in the enterprise». A point of reference at the counter, a fulcrum for the family, while she tells her story she brings to mind Vasco’s Sally, a woman who only wants to lay down her weapons and cultivate her dreams. Because, for Luisa, the 18 years of the bar – with the collaborators Nikol Spero, Joseph Noschese e Yuri Criscuolo – are a goal that has been reached but also the point from which to start again, always with eyes turned towards the States and towards the future, regardless of the mentality of a city that has European ambitions but still provincial citizens.
