The Brazilians Luisa Stefani and Laura Pigossi qualified for the round of 16 in Olympic tennis with a 2-set-0 victory over Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Sharon Fichman, today (24), at Ariake Tennis Park.
After win a spot for the Tokyo Olympics last week, the Brazilians beat heads number 7 with partials of 7/6 (7/3) and 6/4.
The Brazilian pair suffered in the first set. Always behind in the marker, Luisa and Laura reacted in the end, taking the decision to the tie-break and winning the partial.
In the second set, Luisa and Laura won the first three games and, despite the reaction of the Canadian pair – which reduced the disadvantage to a point – ensured the victory.
Now, the Brazilians await the match between the Czechs Karolina Pliskova and Marketa Vondrousova and the Chinese Ying-Ying Duan and Saisai Zheng.
