The Patio de Luces of the Diputación was filled, with the audience even standing to hear the words of four greats of cinema: Luis Tosar, Arturo Valls, Luisa Mayol and Silvia Alonso, who transmitted their passion for cinema. It was a magical moment, of love for cinema, with the spectators dedicated, listening attentively, among whom were Dani Rovira, Javier Veiga, Marta Hazas and David Broncano.
Almudena Morales, deputy for Culture and Cinema, thanked the influx of public. “We are on the second day of FICAL and it is a joy to see the Patio de Luces packed with people. I encourage you to continue enjoying the festival.” Along these lines, Enrique Iznaola, director of the festival, states that “we want to bring the great film professionals closer to all the people of Almería.”
The discussion was moderated by Luis Alegre, who proposed topics so that attendees could get to know the protagonists a little better. The first, how his passion for acting was born.
Luis Tosar remember that “I started in high school. I did a play at school and I liked it. And in high school I connected with another classmate and we talked about movies. The bug started and the final thing was a Literature teacher. She detected that she read well and suggested that I participate in the Institute’s Theater Class. She tempted me and for me it was a total epiphany. It was such a beautiful feeling that I thought it was my thing.”
At your side, Luisa Mayol stated that “My thing with acting has been since I was born. I had good grades and decided to study journalism, but the theater school was next door and I spent more time there. He worked as a journalist, but studied acting at night. I started with a children’s series and from there I have continued. Today I think I don’t know how to do anything else. I have gone through moments of anguish, of waiting, this career has its own thing, but what I feel when I put myself in someone else’s shoes is inexplicable.”
Silvia Alonso He jokingly confessed that “I don’t know the reasons why I dedicate myself to this. I was going to study history. He studied acting while he was studying journalism. Suddenly, I realized that I wasn’t bad at it. And I was lucky which is an important factor. I got a series and from there I started working. There have been stages in which I have had a bad time, others very good, my relationship with the profession has evolved and now I don’t really know where I am, but as Luisa said, I don’t think I know how to do anything else. What is clear to me is that it is where I feel safest.”
Finally, Arturo Valls confessed that “I didn’t make the decision to be an actor, I found it along the way. There was no vocation, what they tell you in the schools of interpretation of the vocation must be wonderful. For me it has been like fatherhood, I found it suddenly. From unconsciousness they proposed ‘Cámera Café’ to me and at first I felt the imposter syndrome, but after several films I already feel like one more.”
Arturo Valls brought his comic vision to light and told in a fun way his experience with Pedro Almodóvar, where he did a script reading but in the end he did not participate in the film, something similar that happened to Luis Tosar, empathizing with Arturo. “Almodóvar is a spectacular director, but you have to be aware of the roles that fit your profile.”
