The newspaper stated that the player will continue with the team until the end of the season in Brazil next December, which means that he may join Inter Miami for free as a free player.
Suarez joined Gremio last January, and the club acquiesced in his desire at the time to sign a two-year contract, before deciding after that to leave early, to seize the opportunity to join Messi and his companions in the American League.
The Uruguayan striker performs well with the Brazilian team, as he leads the club’s top scorer list in the league with 16 goals, in addition to making nine goals in 32 matches.
This explains the team’s unwillingness to abandon the player now, and to wait until the end of the season in Brazil.
According to AFP, Inter Miami, after signing Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, wants to reinforce his attack with their former Barcelona colleague, Suarez.
Messi’s contract with Inter Miami extends until 2025, with a basic salary of $20 million annually that can reach $60 million with bonuses, and upon retirement, Messi will receive a minority stake in the team, according to Bloomberg.
Messi preferred moving to the United States over another huge offer from Saudi Arabia, which attracted his former colleagues to take the same step.
