Luis Roberto Alves “Zague” Discusses Mazatlán FC Performance and the Impact of Foreign Players in Mexican Soccer

MAZATLAN. – During his visit to Mazatlán as part of the Dbut FC project, Luis Roberto Alves “Zague”, former professional player and now sports analyst, addressed very important issues in Mexican soccer, as well as the performance of the Mazatlán FC team. In this regard, he mentioned that both can contribute to consolidating the franchise after three years in the Mexican soccer field.

Focusing on this season’s Mazatlán FC, he highlighted the transformation of the team into a more competitive and solid one compared to previous tournaments. He encouraged the people in Mazatlán to get excited and consider the possibility of obtaining better positions in the table thanks to the performance of the Cañonero team.

Regarding the organization, Alves commented that stability had been needed to build from that point and achieve better results in the Mexican soccer competition, allowing the community to identify with the team.

“I think there was a lack of stability regarding the project. It is understandable in the beginning; changes are always complicated and complex. But I consider that, as a serious project with stability, it can generate much more », he affirmed.

Excess of foreigners harms

Regarding the excess of foreign players per team, he mentioned that this situation is significantly detrimental, something he has expressed for a long time and has noticed that more foreigners tend to stand out than Mexicans in the scoring table.

“We have seen the suffering because the teams have to understand, the directors, and I repeat, I have nothing against foreigners, foreigners who manage to contribute are always welcome, but today there are many who do not contribute anything and take a place from a young mexican player.

Regarding the issue of those naturalized for the national team, he mentioned that they are welcome as long as they make a big difference for the team. However, he emphasized that if they don’t make that difference, it’s pointless.

He concluded by emphasizing that he is convinced that joint work in Mexican soccer can allow for effective competition, without the need to rely excessively on naturalized players.
