Luis Manuel Otero could go on hunger strike

The Cuban artivist and political prisoner, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, continues in terrible conditions inside the Guanajay maximum security prison and, according to the latest information, his patience is reaching the limit.

This was reported by the art curator, Claudia Genlui, in her account on Facebookafter having established communication by telephone with the leader of the San Isidro Movement.

It turned out that Castro’s henchmen have been trying to manipulate Otero Alcántara for three months with the possibility of going into exile in exchange for his freedom. Despite the fact that he would have accepted such an option, the authorities did not give him any kind of response.

“For more than three months, State Security has manipulated him with the possibility of exile, an alternative to life that Luis Manuel has accepted and they are informed of it,” Genlui said.

Despite being extremely weakened by all that he has had to endure in prison, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara is thinking of going on a new hunger strike starting this Thursday, if the dictatorship has not given him an answer by then.

“Luis was decisive today: if necessary, he will go on hunger and thirst strike again starting next Thursday. He wants an answer regarding his leaving the country. He wants them to stop playing with his person. The psychological exhaustion to which political prisoners are subjected by torture is too much.”

In the same way, the art curator asserted that the relatives of the political prisoner are also waiting for an answer that has not yet arrived. “It’s good to sacrifice the body! But if Luis is forced to go on this sixth strike, remember, CUBAN DICTATORSHIP, that no political prisoner is alone, that the world is watching and that little by little everything you are and represent will be dynamited.”sentenced.

Sentenced to five years in prison, the artivist has been in grave danger since his kidnapping. However, and even with physical and psychological torture, he has held his head high in the face of the dictatorship.
