Amid applause from friends, family and admirers, actor Luis D’Oliveira was fired this morning at the “Ignacio A. Pane” Municipal Theater. The remains of the artist, who died yesterday at the age of 72, later left for the Recoleta cemetery where he received his last goodbye.

The Municipal Theater of Asunción, which on so many occasions had Luis D’Oliveira on its stage with works such as “Yvyguy Rekávo Silver” and “I the Supreme”, received this morning the mortal remains of the renowned actor and comedian. Family and friends highlighted not only the professional qualities of the artist, but also his great solidarity and his work in favor of people with disabilities and animals.

“You don’t cry for an artist, you applaud him. It is the best award an artist can have, “said the actor. José Gentile, stating that D’Oliveira was called to form a “troupe of humorists” in heaven. He stated that from now on, he will be shining like a star in the sky.
Luis Helmet Strap, partner of Luis D’Oliveira in various shows, recalled the last performance that the artist gave on December 16 at the Casona Julio Correa in the city of Luque. He recalled through tears that that night, despite already having health problems and a lot of pain, he went on stage to share and bring smiles to the audience.
“As if nothing had happened, he came up on stage with great force and the audience laughed out loud. He did many acrobatic movements and said goodbye to the public saying ‘we have to continue doing theater’, he added.
Katty Pacua highlighted the work carried out by Luis D’Oliveira off stage, in favor of children and people with disabilities. “Thank you Luis for never allowing your friend or neighbor to need something, the doors were always open,” he said.
For her part, the actress Margarita Irun fired him interpreting poetry “Requiem” of the writer and playwright Moncho Azuaga.
The mayor of Asunción also took part in the farewell, Oscar “Nenecho” Rodriguez; the director of the Cultural Center of the Republic “El Cabildo”, Margarita Morselli; and representatives of the National Secretariat of Culture.
An ex gratia pension that no longer arrived
In August of last year, an ex gratia pension request for the actor was presented to the Senate. The procedure was expeditious in the Upper House, where an economic aid of G. 3 million was approved in the following session.
After entering the Deputies and requesting the postponement for a week, finally in the session of August 22, 2021, the Chamber of Deputies modified the project and cut in half, that is to G. 1,500,000, the pension proposal gracious.
With this considerable change, the proposal is returned to the Upper House on September 6. The modifications of Deputies are rejected in the session of November 25 and the Senate ratifies its original version.
In the last session of Deputies last year, on December 7, the ratification of the Senate was admitted, but then the parliamentary recess began.
Last February, Luis D’Oliveira He had to go out to ask for help from the public to meet the costs of his treatment and be able to pay the rent for his home. The solidarity of the public began to arrive through different activities such as charity shows and poladas.

Recently Deputies discussed the project again on March 2, when they finally accepted that the amount of the ex gratia pension be G. 3,000,000 and sent it to the Executive on the 8th of this month.
That same day, the Executive promulgated and published the Law, which, however, could no longer be collected by D’Oliveira.
