Wing striker Liverpool, Luis Diaz couldn’t hold back tears after his team made sure to qualify for the final Liga Champions this season.
Diaz emerged as the star of Liverpool’s victory at Villarreal headquarters. The Colombian player managed to make a difference to the Reds’ game even though he had only entered in the second half.
Diaz came on at a time when Liverpool were in a difficult situation. The port city team trailed 0-2 and struggled to escape the pressure from the hosts.
The movement of the former FC Porto player made the left sector of Liverpool’s attack more lively. Movement with the ball and without the ball Diaz made it difficult for Villarreal players.
The 25-year-old even completed his slick performance by scoring an equalizer. Before that the visitors reduced the score through Fabinho and finally took the lead thanks to Sadio Mane’s goal.
Liverpool finally won 3-2 and qualified for the final thanks to a 5-2 aggregate advantage over Villarreal in two meetings in the semifinals.
