Badung, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan revealed his story when United States (USA) Ambassador Sung Y. Kim protested in Indonesia.
According to Luhut, the US ambassador came to his office and complained about Indonesia’s withdrawal of US products from the e-Catalog.
“Why are you removing the American brand from your catalog?” Luhut said imitating the US Ambassador’s question at the 4th Fintech Summit in Indonesia, Bali, Thursday (11/10/2022).
“Excellency, basically America taught us how to do it, because your president said American first, Indonesia also has the right to say Indonesia first”, ujar Luhut.
Evidently, according to him, the US Ambassador has never complained about this matter again until now. Luhut revealed that the e-Catalog transformation is important. The Central Statistical Agency (BPS) in its study found that 90% of public procurement of goods and services for a total value of Rp 1,600 trillion. it was still imported.
“BPS studies that we can make Rp 400 trillion and doing it nationwide will create 2 million jobs, 1.9 million as well and economic growth from the current 1% growth,” he explained.
Currently, the electronic catalogs for Rp 1,200 trillion. from the government and Rp 400 trillion. from SOEs have been gradually digitized. In fact, all goods and services are made on an export basis and prioritize the domestic production of MSMEs.
