A village representative from Aceh Province named Muslim shouted “Jokowi 3 Periods” in the 2022 Village National Gathering. The statement was made when talking to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
Muslim started the statement by explaining the condition of the Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL). He hopes that Jokowi can move the TNGL management office from Medan to Aceh.
He asked Luhut to convey his aspirations to Jokowi. At the end of the statement, Muslims called for Jokowi for 3 terms.
“Please, this is our request to you. I’m sure you can grant it and the President can grant it. Jokowi for 3 terms, agree?” Muslim shouted.
“Agree!” said some participants while shouting.
Luhut did not immediately respond to the call. He only smiled when Muslim proposed a third term for Jokowi.
Meanwhile, a representative of Pasir Wangi Village, West Java named Sutisna, encouraged Luhut to become a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. He prayed for Luhut to live a long life.
“My question is, are you ready to be nominated as president after Jokowi steps down?” said Sutisna, greeted by the fanfare of the other participants.
Luhut smiled in response to Sutisna’s words. Later, he stated that he would not run in 2024.
“Thank you Kang Sutisna. Just one request, may I? Pray for us to be healthy,” he said.
“I don’t want to, I think it’s time for me to retire. It’s not my dream to be vice president or president, let it be something else. I’m just completing the responsibilities the President has given me,” he said.
Outside the 2022 Village National Gathering event, two banners declaring the loyalty of village heads throughout Indonesia to President Joko Widodo were stretched out at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
The banner reads “HEAD OF VILLAGE IN INDONESIA WITH PRESIDENT Ir. JOKO WIDODO”. Banner on a red background with green writing. The logo of the Indonesian Village Government Association was also embedded.
The banners were installed at the main entrance of the event location. The location is the entry and exit point for VVIP guests. There is also a pedestrian door for village representatives.
In the schedule of events received by CNNIndonesia.com, Jokowi will provide direction to village leaders. Jokowi’s speech is scheduled to take place from 14.00 to 16.00.
Besides Jokowi, a number of ministers were also invited as keynote speakers at this event. Some of them are Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.
