TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government officially extends the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities or PPKM Level 4 Java Bali from 17 to 23 August 2021. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said extensions were carried out in several areas because the trend of cases in this region began to show improvement.
"Berdasarkan arahan Presiden Joko Widodo, PPKM Level 4 di Jawa Bali akan diperpanjang sampai 23 Agustus 2021," kata Luhut dalam konferensi pers di Jakarta, Senin, 16 Agustus 2021.
Salah satunya, kata Luhut, kasus terkonfirmasi sudah turun hingga 76 persen pada data terakhir pada 15 Agustus 2021. Angka ini, kata Luhut, sudah lebih besar dari pengumuman PPKM Level 4 minggu lalu yang masih berada di level 59 persen.
Selain itu, kata Luhut, tren kasus aktif juga turun 53 persen pada 15 Agustus 2021. Meski demikian, kata Luhut, PPKM Level 4 tetap diperpanjang demi mempertahankan momentum penurunan kasus ini.
Previously, the government had several times implemented PPKM policies to suppress the spread of Covid-19 cases in the country. Starting from Emergency PPKM from 3-20 July 2021. Then, the government changed its name to PPKM Level 4 and took effect from 21 July-16 August 2021.
In the last PPKM announcement on August 9, 2021, Luhut said that the Java Bali PPKM evaluation would be carried out once a week. Meanwhile, evaluation of PPKM outside Java-Bali is carried out once every two weeks. The difference in the evaluation time span is due to differences in infrastructure.
Until August 16, 2021, PPKM Level 4 will be implemented in 70 regencies and cities in 7 provinces of Java and Bali, according to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 30 of 2021. As for the extension of PPKM Level 4 until August 23, the list of areas will be submitted after this press conference.
