Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan Warns Prabowo Subianto: Don’t Bring Toxic People into Your Cabinet

Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan warning Prabowo Subianto after being named President-elect for 2024-2029. Luhut asked Prabowo not to bring toxic or problematic people into his cabinet.

“To the president-elect, I say don’t bring toxic people into your government, that will be very damaging for us,” Luhut said at the ‘Jakarta Future Forum: Blue Horizons, Green Growth’ event in Jakarta as narrated by Antara. , Friday (3/5/2024).

Luhut said this based on his experience of 10 years in President Jokowi’s cabinet. Luhut believes that the problem in Indonesia is that there are regulations that are against national interests.

“I fixed a lot of those problems,” he said.

Luhut also explained the solution to overcome the problem of conflicting rules. One of the solutions Luhut mentioned is digitization.

He assessed that digitization can increase the efficiency and transparency of regulations. Because of this, Luhut is pushing to digitize Indonesia’s unified government system.

“I said to the President, ‘Sir, if you do not have the courage to replace the people who do not agree with this (digitization of a unified government system), we will not go forward. So, we have to go instead. the people who do not agree with this idea, he said.

After learning about this, Luhut sent a message to Prabowo to be more selective in choosing people to be part of the cabinet. Luhut believes that Indonesia will be even better in the future. In 2045, he said, Indonesia will become a country with the fourth largest economy in the world.

Daily Chairman Gerindra Dasco considered Luhut’s message as advice for Prabowo.

“Yes, maybe in general what Pak Luhut said to Pak Prabowo was a compliment,” Dasco said when contacted, Friday (3/5).

Dasco then touched on the recent emergence of cabinet writings on social media. His party has also denounced the composition of the rotating cabinet.

“Because, as we know, several drafts have appeared regarding ministers in the cabinet, even though we have denied that there is no such thing as a cabinet draft that has been issued to h -officially by Pak Prabowo, and until now there was no such thing. something like a solution to create the cabinet,” he said.

Dasco assessed that Prabowo could certainly take into account Luhut’s proposal when forming a cabinet.

“So, in my opinion, what has been given is not a problem and Pak Prabowo could take it into account in forming the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet later on,” he said.
