Luhut asks the KPK not to overexamine Edhy Prabowo

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Ad Interim Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, advised the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to over-examine Edhy Prabowo.

“I ask the KPK to also check according to the good provisions, not overdoing it. I leave it alone. Not everyone is bad, lots of people are good,” he said at the KKP Building, Jakarta, Friday (27/11/2020).

Luhut praised the attitude of Edhy Prabowo who took the step of resigning from his position as KP Minister after being named by the KPK as a suspect.

Luhut considered Edhy as a good person. Therefore, he said, Edhy’s attitude who immediately resigned from his position needed to be respected.

“I know that Pak Edhy is actually a good person. I am happy that he immediately took over the responsibility like a knight. And that we must also respect such things,” he said.

Luhut asked the public to pray that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries would continue to carry out its duties as usual, even though there were cases of suspected bribery for lobster seed export licenses involving a number of officials at the KKP.

Previously, the KPK had named Edhy Prabowo as a suspect in the case of allegedly receiving gifts or promises related to permits for ponds, businesses, or management of fisheries or other similar marine commodities in 2020.

The KPK named a total of seven suspects in the Edhy Prabowo case as recipients. As is known, Edhy was arrested by the KPK in a hand-arrest operation (OTT) at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Wednesday morning.

Edhy was arrested with his wife and a number of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries officials after returning from a working visit in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. Apart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the KPK also arrested a number of other parties in Jakarta and Depok.
